Svatos season over, Smyth out indefinitely
The Colorado Avalanche took a dual hit on the injury front Monday.
The team learned that forward Ryan Smyth suffered a concussion after his collision with the padded partition near the Avalanche bench. He will not be able to exercise or return to the ice until he is symptom free. He also suffered a minor shoulder separation remains sidelined for an indefinite period of time.
The news got worse for Colorado as Marek Svatos was diagnosed with a torn ACL that will require surgery and sideline the forward for the remainder of the season.
In 45 games with the Avalanche this season, Smyth has 14 goals and 19 assists while Svatos leads the team in goals with 26 in addition to 11 assists.
