The revelation made by ESPN's Pierre LeBrun regarding an offer for Leaf forward Kris Versteeg came as a bit of a shock, since the young forward is thought to be one of the players that Burke intends to build around, but the adage of having to give up something to get something might be at work here.
Versteeg is a very attractive commodity with a Stanley Cup under his belt at the ripe old age of 24, as well as having another year left on his contract for just over $3 million.
According to Lebrun, the proposed deal was rejected by Toronto, but Versteeg's name
could be in play if a better offer is tabled.
