Oshawa - An unexpected visitor lumbered into the dressing room of the Maple Leaf rookies on Tuesday night, moments before their tournament finale against the Ottawa Senators at General Motors Centre.
“I didn't expect that,” said winger Brad Ross, a second round pick of the organization in 2010. “It's always really cool to have a superstar come in and just talk to you about how everybody's behind you and how good of a job we've done.”
“Yeah, that was cool,” added Jake Gardiner, a defensive prospect out of the University of Wisconsin. “It just shows a lot about the Leafs organization and about him as a person.”
“Anytime you see an NHLer, you always try to take anything you can from him,” said winger Kyle Neuber, a former Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick. “He had a couple things I really took from. It was just a great experience. It really got us going for the game.”
One lesson Neuber quickly learned?
“How much they don't like Ottawa,” he said with a chuckle.
