The Toronto Star's Kevin McGran reported that the Maple Leafs have granted permission to the agent for forward Jamal Mayers to explore the possibility of a trade. But Mayers isn't the only one who could be moved.

Toronto GM Brian Burke told SportingNews.com that he has given the agent for defenseman Garnet Exelby permission to speak to other teams and explore trade options. Exelby is represented by Neil Abbott, of the Boston-based Abbott Management Group.

Exelby and Burke have talked about finding a place where the physical defenseman could get more icetime. His playing time has been sporadic since coming over in a trade with Atlanta, which isn’t a good thing for a player scheduled to become a free agent on July 1. Exelby is in the final year of a deal that will pay him $1.725 million this season.

“He’s asked to keep [a trade] in mind,” Burke told SportingNews.com. “I’m not offended by that. He’s in the last year of his deal… He’d like to stay, he just wants to play.”
