Penguins goaltending prospect Tristan Jarry has wasted no time picking up where he left off with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League.
Fresh off of a Memorial Cup and Penguins training camp, Jarry has been nothing short of amazing in his return to the CHL.
He’s 2-0 to start the season, both wins coming on the road against high-quality opponents. The most recent of which was a 2-1 win in Medicine Hat where Jarry was forced to stand on his head as he stopped 36 of 37 en route to the win.

Alexei Kovalev Officially Retires
“Alexei Kovalev has retired from professional hockey, leading many hockey fans to proclaim, “ALEXEI KOVALEV WAS STILL PLAYING?!”
Yes he was, in fact: He played for a second-tier Swiss team called EHC Visp and had 70 points in 59 games in leading them to the National League B championship.“
Kovalev gave us a bunch of great memories as a Penguin. KLS Line Forever.

“The Pittsburgh Penguins have their sights set on a winger that can play with Evgeni Malkin. That winger is unrestricted free-agent Nikolai Kulemin.
“One of the players on the Penguins’ radar is forward Nikolai Kulemin. The 27-year-old winger is an unrestricted free agent and Malkin’s best friend. The two have been linemates in international competitions and with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Six Stats to remember about the Blue Jackets
- 72.1% - That’s the percentage of their total goals that the Blue Jackets have scored at even strength, good for only 24th in the league and just a hair better than the Pens, who are at 71.7%. Like the Penguins, the Blue Jackets aren’t very good at even strength and winning games goes hand in hand with capitalizing on power-play opportunities. Pens have converted 23.4% this season; Columbus is at 19.3%.
- Columbus scored 54 goals on the power play this season. James Wisnewski figured in on 28 of them, which is 52%. Ryan Johansen was in on 20; that’s 37%. When the Pens find themselves shorthanded, these are the guys to watch.
- Columbus drew 280 penalties this season and also took 280. The Pens were a plus-25 (274 drawn vs. 249 taken). With both teams clearly relying so heavily on their power plays, it can’t be emphasized enough how important staying out of the box is going to be.
- .281 is Columbus’ winning percentage when they don’t score the first goal. They aren’t exactly a team built to come from behind (only nine come-from-behind wins all season). Scoring first will be huge for the Penguins.
.945 - Bobrovsky’s save percentage in the last seven games.
