BRANDON- Lightning coach Guy Boucher said he's not a very patient man when it comes to work ethic.
So, when he feels his players aren't giving their all, it gets under his skin.
During the team's final two preseason games in Montreal this week, Boucher expects to see an increased level of play from his team.
"We're far from where we were last year at the end of the year," he said. "Work ethic, our relentlessness and our details are not there right now. We have to get that, we have to solidify our identity and that's why those two games are there."
If the players on the bubble expect to make the roster, that's what they need to show.
The team, which left Monday afternoon, will practice in Mont-Tremblant, about 90 minutes north of Montreal, today and Wednesday before playing games against the Canadiens on Thursday in Montreal and Saturday in Quebec City.
"One, the vets have to get their game and the new guys trying to make the team are going to have to prove it, because there's only two games left to prove it," Boucher said.
The team is expected to cut at least two players to reach the maximum of 23 before the season begins Oct. 7. Monday's practice was Boucher's first complete session with the full team. He spent time working on the power play on Sunday.
"You still have that image, but in reality its not there," he said. "The guys forget about everything, they forget about the details, they're not relentless and that's not good enough. It's my job to make sure we get to that point."
Supporting the Rays
Boucher has paid close attention to the Rays' playoffs push.
"(Monday) morning I was on the radio and I was saying we're certainly behind them," he said. "Some guys have got their Rays caps and really pulling for them."
Boucher said he was going to give Rays manager Joe Maddon a call Monday.
"I'm going to be on the phone (Monday) and make sure I give him a word. He doesn't need it. He's doing a great job and hopefully they can finish the job."
Injury update
LW Ryan Malone (shoulder) traveled with the team to Montreal and will play in the final two preseason games, Boucher said. D Scott Jackson did not travel and will continue to rehab his surgically repaired knee in Tampa.

Lightning Reduce Camp Roster by 27

Two of those reassigned, Carter Ashton and Cory Conacher, were very much in contention for those forward roster spots. Both performed very well in camp and the preseason. Ashton had a goal on Friday and nearly scored on a nifty penalty shot move on Saturday. Undrafted Conacher, who was the story of training camp, potted a goal last Wednesday and added an assist in the comeback win on Saturday.

egyre jobban tetszik, amit látok/hallok/olvasok
nem elég, hogy egyre komolyabb a depth, de még fiatalodunk is közben. tökéletes párosítás. ha ugyanezt sikerül pár éven belül kapus poszton is megcsinálni, akkor tényleg nagyon babák leszünk
