Szégyelhetik a pofájukat.
Howardnak is jár a kredit, hozta a kellő bravúrokat.
Including Saturday’s 4-3 shootout loss in New Jersey, Detroit has strung together five strong periods. Perhaps it’s no coincidence the turnaround came after Kris Draper, a team leader and the second-longest serving Red Wing, lit into his teammates during the first intermission in New Jersey.
Howard said Draper “let us have it,’’ and “said enough is enough.’’
“He went out there and got us going, getting a big goal (against the Devils),’’ Howard said.
His team trailing the Devils 2-0 after a terrible first period, Draper said he basically was tired of hearing a lot of talk and seeing little action.
“I just got in there and had a little bit of a snap and kept on going,’’ Draper said. “I was embarrassed (by) the way I played in the first period. I look at myself as one of the leaders on the team, work ethic-wise and emotion-wise, and I didn’t think anything was there.’’
Draper has addressed the team before, but said, “This one just kind of came from the heart. I started and things kept coming to me.
“There’s so much tradition, it’s such a great jersey to put on day in and day out. I have a lot of pride being a Red Wing. I just kind of felt we weren’t playing with enough pride. That was one of the things I tried to hammer home.’’
